Analysis of single-defect cavities in 3D photonic crystal

Abstract

We theoretically investigate the properties of a single-defect cavity which is created by adding dielectric material to three-dimensional photonic crystal. The important design rules are shown to obtain enough tunability of the resonant frequency, large mode separation, and high Q factor.
