Thermal birefringence effect in Nd3+-doped YAG ceramics

Abstract

Thermal birefringence effect in Nd3+-doped YAG ceramics has been investigated. The amount of depolarization induced by thermal birefringence is same between ceramics and single crystals at the same Nd3+ concentration, whereas larger for more Nd3+-doped samples.
