Abstract

We investigated the surface plasmon resonances in gold nanoparticles above a gold substrate and in gold nanoparticle pairs. We prepared these systems using self-assembled monolayers onto glass slides. The obtained absorption spectra of gold nanoparticles were compared with those obtained theoretically. The results suggest that distance in subnanometer scale can be measured by this technique.
