Abstract

We report a thermoelectrically cooled gated-mode single-photon detector operating at 1550 nm. The obtained quantum efficiency (~ 11.6%) and the dark count probability (~ 2×10−5) per gate makes it possible to realize long-distance Fiber-optic quantum cryptography with a small quantum bit-error rate.
