Abstract

The effect of a tightly focused laser pulse on the nonlinear Thomson scattered radiation by relativistic electrons is numerically investigated. The results show that the longitudinal field, which becomes significant when the focal size is comparable with the laser wavelength, strongly decelerates electrons, thus much intense harmonic spectrum can be generated.
