Abstract
We have succeeded in direct lasing at 1178nm with linear polarization from ytterbium-doped fiber. By composing high Q-value cavity with all-fiber configuration, parasitic lasing was suppressed. The output power amounts to 3.03W with 49.5% slope efficiency and bandwidth of 0.037nm. A maximum of 205mW output power at 589nm was obtained at the maximum of 3.03W input power of 1178nm laser.
