Abstract

Finite difference time domain (FDTD) method was used to simulate the intensity distribution of an initial plane light wave incident on the surface of an optical material. When the scratch size is far less or much larger than the incident wavelength in free space, the intensity enhancement effect is not obvious and could be neglected. When the scratch size and the incident wavelength are comparable, the maximum electric amplitude becomes notable beside both sides of the scratch.
