Deceleration of a Supersonic Molecular Beam in an Optical Cavity

Abstract

We present a new optical deceleration scheme to slow a supersonic beam to zero central velocity and show that the rapid switching of the optical deceleration force is automatically generated by the cavity-induced dynamics.
