Self-mixing Yb:YAG thin-slice laser metrology with enhanced optical sensitivity

Abstract

We have demonstrated self-mixing laser Doppler measurements using a laser-diode-pumped thin-slice Yb:YAG laser, whose optical sensitivity is two orders of magnitude higher than that of Nd-doped lasers, e.g., Nd:GdVO4, in a common feedback apparatus.
