THz radiation from Fabry-perot microcavity with GaP crystal in strong excitation condition

Abstract

We have fabricated Fabry–Perot (FP) cavities in the THz region with a GaP crystal as a cavity layer by a simple stacking method. We investigated the characteristic of THz emission from the microcavity structure under strong excitation condition. The THz radiation is suppressed because of the two photon absorption in GaP crystal. We also investigated the two photon absorption properties in the bare GaP crystal using optical pump terahertz probe spectroscopy.
