Abstract

We report efficient generation of broad-bandwidth mid-infrared radiation by cascaded Raman scattering of nanosecond pulses in large-core (65-μm diameter) As2Se3 optical fibre. With 2.5-μm pump pulses, four cascaded Raman Stokes peaks are observed. The peak Stokes frequency shift is ~7.2 THz and the fourth peak is centred at a wavelength of ~3.3 μm.
