Abstract
In the last years, there has been a strong request of the physicians for point-of-care testing (POCT) instrumention. The present paper deals with the characterisation of a POCT optical instrument, the channel array interrogation (CAI) device, developed for the simultaneous detection of biomarkers for sepsis. The portable device was optimized for the determination of procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP), the main biomarkers for sepsis. Limit of detection equal to 1.3 g L−1 and to 2 g L−1 for CRP and PCT, respectively were achieved.
