Abstract
We report highly efficient generation of wavelength tunable femtosecond pulses from red to mid-infrared based on intracavity second harmonic generation (SHG) and sum frequency generation (SFG) in a MgO:PPLN optical parametric oscillator (OPO), which is synchronously pumped by a Yb-doped large-mode-area photonics crystal fiber (PCF) femtosecond laser. A 2mm β-BaB2O4 is applied for Type I (oo → e) intracavity SHG and SFG, and then femtosecond laser over 610~668nm from SFG and 716~970nm from SHG is obtained with high efficiency. In addition, the oscillator simultaneously generates signal and idler femtosecond pulse over 1450nm ~2200nm and 2250nm ~4000nm respectively.
