Sub-micron Photonics Switches: Design, Fabrication and Characterization

Abstract

MMI-based sub-micron planar waveguide architectures, with 15µm access waveguide separation to enable high-integration density, show higher tolerance to fabrication artifacts. The first results show 3-4 dB device insertion loss and around 1dB/cm waveguide loss.
