Abstract

SiO2 glass-cladding crystal fiber was studied using the rod-in-tube technique. The morphology of the fiber was investigated using SEM and XRD. The photoluminescence and radioluminescence spectra indicate a broadened emission belong to Ce3+ ion in YAP and SiO2 hosts, and the integral area of fluorescence intensity was higher than that of YAP crystal, suggesting possible practical applications in radiotherapy and the remote oil well logging.
