Efficient degenerate third-order difference frequency generation in microfiber-ring resonator systems

Abstract

We proposed an efficient frequency degenerate third-order difference frequency generation (TODFG) in the optical microfiber-ring resonator (MRR) systems. The MRR systems offer a twofold advantage: the decrease of the incident seed optical power required for stimulating the TODFG process and changeless phase evolution in each iteration cycle with nonlinear resonance condition satisfied. By using the model of MRR systems, numerical simulation proves that the TODFG can be greatly enhanced with lower input seed power than in straight microfibers, which has been analyzed in our former work. Further, a detailed analysis of the enhancement for TODFG provided by the MRR system is demonstrated.
