Abstract

We developed a 1.7 μm band external cavity laser (ECL) that can supply an output power of over 0 dBm in the 1650 to 1740 nm wavelength region, and applied it to a near infrared spectroscopy system to evaluate the ethanol concentration of several commercially available distilled spirits. The evaluation of the distilled spirits was successful because the measured concentrations were less than the labeled ethanol concentrations on the bottles.
