Brillouin Gain/Loss Spectrum Distortions in Single-Tone Based BOTDA Sensors

Abstract

The impact of probe power on the distortions of both pump pulse and Brillouin gain/loss spectrum in single-tone probe based BOTDA system is experimentally investigated for the first time. The results indicate probe power limitations in a couple of recent techniques, offering practical probe power thresholds securing the robustness in such methods.
