Experimental Characterization of Variable Background Light to APD-Based OWC System Performance

Abstract

Characterization of variable background light from a blue LED to an LD/APD-based optical wireless communication (OWC) link performance was experimentally investigated. The results reveal both APD’s gain and bandwidth degrade the performance, ignoring shot noise.
