Employment of Multi-layer Neural Network for Channel Equalization in 4×50-Gb/s PAM4 Signal Transmission over 80-km SSMF

Abstract

A four-layer artificial neural network is designed for non-linearity compensation under two different system configurations. It achieved 4 × 50-Gb/s PAM-4 IM/DD transmission for 80-km fiber with 4dB power sensitivity improvement over conventional algorithms.
