Electro-Optic Dual Optical Frequency Combs outside of the metrology lab: Opportunities in and beyond spectroscopy

Abstract

The rapid evolution of Electro Optic Dual Comb spectrometer design during the last years with contributions that range from new architectures for extra operation robustness and immunity to external factors, to techniques for spectral coverage enhancement and signal processing methods, have opened new opportunities for such powerful optical sources beyond the research/metrology lab. In this work we review some of the outside-the-lab implementations already reported, and review different real-life scenarios where EO-Dual Comb spectrometers may find application.
