Self-generated chaos in a free-running Fabry-Perot quantum dot laser

Abstract

This work demonstrates that a free-running Fabry-Perot quantum dot laser generates chaotic oscillations without any external perturbations, which is owing to the multimode Risken-Nummerdal-Graham-Haken instability.
