High-efficiency broadband grating coupler in SiN/a-Si/SiN sandwich hybrid waveguide

Abstract

Grating couplers with coupling efficiency of -3.27 dB (TE) and -8 dB (TM) are demonstrated in a novel SiN/a-Si/SiN sandwich-waveguide with a 3dB bandwidth ~100 nm in the C-band for linear and non-linear photonics.
