Abstract

The laser operates cw at a nominal power level of 150 W. The laser beam is normally interrupted by a disk that is rotating at 3600 rpm. A narrow slit in the disk creates a short pulse of 1-msec duration when a flag, activated by a high-speed stepping motor, is moved out of the beam path.
