Phase Transitions Induced by Ultrafast Laser Writing in Transparent Materials

Abstract

Evidence of the first order phase transition associated with self-assembled nonostructures formation during ultrafast laser writing in silica glass is demonstrated. Supercooled state of laser damage is observed using pulses with tilted intensity front.
