Freeform and Thin-Film Optics for a 45% Conversion Efficiency Photovoltaic Concentrator

Abstract

Freeform surfaces are important in designing state-of-the-art nonimaging optics for high efficiency concentration phototovoltaics (CPV). CPV designs will be presented that use freeform and thin-film optical components with the potential to achieve 45% electrical conversion.
