Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate an optical intensity modulation transmitter and direct detection receiver-based channel-reuse wavelength-division-multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON). Bidirectional 40 Gb/s/λ transmission over 45-km standard single-mode-fiber (SSMF) on a 100-GHz WDM grid is achieved.
