Electrical polarization in micro optical fiber and its applications in kilovoltage sensing

Abstract

We demonstrate interesting electrical polarization phenomenon in silica micro fiber to make kilovoltage sensors. The micro fiber can be intrinsically polarized and then physically moved by an external kilovoltage source to change its spectral responses.
