Absorptivity and energy scaling associated with laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing

Abstract

In situ absorptivity measurements and finite element modeling are used to characterize energy coupling mechanisms and scaling behavior in laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing. A universal relationship is derived that predicts melt depth and absorptivity.
