Laser Ignition of Cryogenic Propellants in Space Propulsion

Abstract

A Q-switched laser system was applied to a research rocket combustor in order to ignite cryogenic propellants by inducing several plasma breakdown events. The optical emission was analyzed using LIBS and other techniques.
