Photonic Crystal Behavior of Nitzschia Filiformis Phytoplankton for Chlorophyll A Photosynthesis

Abstract

Photonic band structure simulations of Nitschia Filiformis diatom frustules revealed resonances at wavelengths corresponding to both peaks in the chlorophyll A absorption spectrum. The behavior at 658 nm wavelength was investigated using near-field optical microscopy.
