Seeing the Big Picture: Basin-wide Methane Emissions Surveys Reveal the Problem and a Solution

Abstract

Effective methane emissions mitigation depends on a tradeoff between survey periodicity and sensor sensitivity, influenced by super-emitter frequency. We combine airborne emissions measurements with bottom-up modeling to optimize leak detection strategies that reduce basin-scale emissions.
