All-optical switching of infrared light on a lithium niobate/semiconductor interface

Abstract

We use photo-excited charges on a lithium niobate/semiconductor interface to perform reversible all-optical control of infrared light. Upon, below bandgap illumination it is recorded transmission contrast of 80% due to the build-up of a space-charge.
