Einstein-Laub and Lorentz Optical Force Densities with a Planar Interface

Abstract

Realizing optomechanical devices from nanostructured media requires a spatially-dependent force density model in the material. The general Einstein-Laub force density is shown to be consistent with a boundary description, thereby completing a needed analytic description.
