Ground-based Sounding of Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) as a Proxy for Stratospheric Methane (CH4)

Abstract

Full atmospheric column measurements of methane (CH4) are complicated by concentration decreases above the tropopause due to CH4 reaction with F atoms. We offer a practical method for using HF as a CH4 surrogate.
