Abstract

A photonic microwave phase shifter exploiting vector modulation has been constructed. The device is capable of shifting an arbitrary input signal through greater than 2π phase shift across 2-18 GHz. To illustrate applications of the device, the basic phase shifter was then incorporated into frequency translation and frequency discrimination architectures.
