Abstract

Laser installations developed for laser angioplasty are still far from perfection. Even excimer lasers that have been considered to provide precise influence on a small volume directly irradiated by laser beam show a number of side effects that prevent from their wide applications in clinics. However in our opinion, there was rather incorrect approach to the problem than the problem has no solution. It is known, that the longer is duration of laser pulse the easier it can be delivered through the fiber. But the cost of this easiness is reduced laser power affecting the tissue. In this paper, we report that laser power is the main parameter that determines efficiency of laser beam-tissue interaction.
