Abstract

Up to now. there is hardly any intuitive assessment on which type of molecules are suitable for third-order nonlinear optics. A complete understanding on how to optimize the third-order nonlinear optical properties and additional properties dealing with applications are still lacking. In this contribution we present third-order nonlinear optical measurements and new structure-property relationships on a series of functionalized tetraethynylethene derivatives that provide further insight into routes leading to large third-order optical nonlinearities.
