Abstract

As distinct from conventional linear resonators, in radiation-loss resonators the effective loss is modulated by switching the shutter in an optical assembly incorporating the shutter and mirrors. To achieve the stated mode of operation, the authors have developed an FTIR-effect based shutter [1] with the properties of a dynamic apodizing diaphragm (DAD).
