Abstract

BaFBr:Eu plates are commonly used in radiography and crystallography as a reusable imaging device for X-rays, converting the high energy radiation to visible wavelengths. An understanding of the mechanisms involved in the excitation, optical interrogation and storage properties of the phosphor would allow detectors to be designed effectively for specific applications. Environmental radiation monitoring and dosimeter replacements for film badges are possible applications.
