Abstract

New development of a broadly tunable continuous-wave (cw) infrared source is described. Long wavelength infrared radiation from 8-19 µm is produced by difference-frequency generation (DFG) in gallium selenide (GaSe) crystal. This, to our knowledge, is the first realization of cw DFG in GaSe up to 19 µm near its absorption edge.
