Soliton interaction reduction in the transmission of solitons generated by direct modulation of laser diodes

Abstract

We have numerically shown that pseudorandom sequences of solitons can be generated by direct modulation of laser diodes (LD) when biasing slightly below threshold [C. R. Mirasso et al, IEEE Photon. Tech. Lett. 7, p. 437, 1995]. Using this bias current pattern effects are avoided and the fluctuations originated in the LD are reduced. In this way electroapsorbtion modulator are not necessary to codify the message.
