Abstract

A large progress was achieved during the 30-year period of development of the lasers on selfterminating transitions (RMT) - laser transitions from the upper resonant to the lower metastable levels. The number of obtained laser lines on RMT of atoms and ions is not less than 44. The parameters of lasing are also impressive: average power of 120 W (CuI transitions) can be generated from a single laser tube with record conversion efficiency for all types of high-power visible lasers (3.2%) based on stored energy. The same device gives a maximum average output power of 201 W with an efficiency of 1.9%.
