Abstract

Self-focusing effects in photorefractive media has been observed in several photorefractive crystals. We report the first experimental observation of the self-focusing ability and ID soliton formation in a BaTiO3 crystal. In our experiments we used a 4.3x4x2.5 mm single-domain BaTiO3 crystal with silver electrodes in the 4x2.5 mm2 face. The c-axis was parallel to the applied electric field. The experimental set up was similar to that used in our previous investigations of soliton interactions [1]
