Abstract

Optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) pumped by the Kerr-lens-mode-locked (KLM) Ti:sapphire (TiS) laser are practical sources of picosecond pulses. Until recently, the operation of these devices was confined mainly to wavelengths below -3 pm. We have now extended the operation of these devices into the mid-infrared by exploiting the new quasiphase-matched (QPM) nonlinear material RbTiOAsO4 (PPRTA).
