Abstract

Multiwavelength optical sources have potential applications in both Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and Optical Time Division Multiplexing (OTDM) transmission systems. To date sources able to generate multiwavelength picosecond pulses have been demonstrated using external cavity grating lasers [1]. Here, multiwavelength pulses are generated using a monolithically integrated device, which is able to lase simultaneously on four WDM channels.
