Abstract

The dynamic behavior of semiconductor lasers (LDs) and amplifiers (SOAs) reveals fundamental information about the electron and photon systems and their interplay on a wide range of timescales. Subpicosecond optical pulses probe these interactions well, as their propagation is very sensitive to the underlying electron and photon dynamics.
