Modeling of thermal birefringence in longitudinal diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser systems

Abstract

Longitudinal diode laser pumping results in pronounced inhomogeneous heating of the laser material. This heat distribution affects the quality of a beam passing through the crystal due to thermal dispersion and thermal expansion.
