Abstract
The generation of high-order harmonics of a short laser pulse in a gas jet has attracted a lot of attention since the first observations. Besides its fundamental interest as a signature of the interaction between an atom and a strong radiation field, the harmonic radiation has the potential to become a useful short-pulse coherent source of light in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) region.
