Abstract

We propose a novel scheme for all-optical processing low-power signals at ~1.55μm via a high power counter-propagating pump wave at ~800nm, based on quadratic cascading1 effects in a Counter-propagating Optical Parametric Amplifier (COPA). The COPA structure is sketched in Fig. 1. The interaction between the low-power signal (λ1), entering in z=0, the pump (λ3), launched at z=L, and the generated idler (λ2). co-propagating with the pump, is assumed to occur in a QPM LiNbO3 soft-proton-exchanged (SPE) channel waveguide.2
